How to make it - Step by Step
Watch the Youtube video and learn with visuals
Prepare
- Take your asparagus and start peeling the skin with a potato peeler.
- Chop the woody dry end of the asparagus.
- You can throw the peels, and woody dry ends away.
- Cut approx 5 centimeters from the top of the asparagus and collect this separately.
- Cut the other parts of the asparagus in small parts and collect them separately
- Heat up 1,5 L of water in your watercooker.
Cooking time
- Take a soup pan and add the cut pieces of asparagus in your pan.
- Add the 1,5 L heated water in your soup pan, and turn on your stove.
- Add 3 tablespoon vegetable broth powder (Bouillon powder) in your pan.
- Put the lid on the pan to cook it for approx 5-10 minutes.
Mixing time
- After 5-10 minutes you can turn off your stove.
- Open the lid and check if your asperges are ready to get mixed.
- Start (hand) mixing your asperges with a mixer (watch the video for a reference).
- Add the (uncooked) tops of the asparagus to the soup pan.
- Add the 300 ml semi-skimmed milk to your soup pan.
- Turn on your stove again.
Make the thickening agent
- Take a separate small bowl and add approx 3,5 full teaspoons of Maizena (cornstarch)
- Get a glass of cold water and mix the cornstarch in this small bowl.
- Mix the cornstarch until it is a clear liquid, without any bubbles.
Masala Time
- Your pan is now on the stove and this is the time to add your spices.
- Add a big teaspoon White pepper powder.
- Add a big teaspoon basil.
- Add a big teaspoon oregano.
- Put the lid on the pan to cook it for approx 5-10 minutes.
- When it is cooked you can serve your white gold!
Serve your dish
- Serve your dish warm.
- Take your ladle and spoon 3 to 5 big scoops out of your soup pan into your soup bowl.
- Scoop one of the tops of the asparagus into your soup bowl.
- Garnish your dish with chili flakes.
- Garnish your dish with fresh parsley.
Tip: eat it warm! The top of the asparagus in the soup bowl is to give it some texture. Just serve one top of the asparagus in the soup bowl. More of the tops might become too much.
Check if your dish is ready to eat and nothing is raw. If you feel like you need to cook your dish a little more it might be oké because every stove, gas/electric/fire is different.
